So whilst staying inside, everyone has a lot more time on their hands, including myself. My one get away from normality and way of keeping sane amongst all of this is music, local music at that! The North East is brilliant for music and this week especially with amazing new releases from Plastic Glass, Laurens Court and The Tonalities. In these testing times it is most important we don't forget about our local music scene and support them through Covid-19, from sharing a tune on your story to buying merch!

Plastic Glass

Local lads from over the river in Wearside have just released an absolute banger for your days inside! With a really well-built and catchy indie song available on all platforms!

Freshly returning from the first half of their tour, Plastic Glass, release their new single “Let Me Know”, maintaining their current upward trajectory whilst also consolidating their reputation as a live force of nature. Recent shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Sunderland (supporting The Pale White at a sold-out, 350-cap gig) have cemented the Indie- Rock quartet’s status as one of the North East’s most-promising bands. Gaining support from the likes of This Feeling and Scruff Of The Neck has further added to their credibility.

Talking specifically about “Let me Know” Ben Richardson (bass) explains: “The song was written on-the-spot during a rehearsal and naturally developed into what you hear on the record”. Expanding further: “Lyrically, the song deals with the theme of frustration. Specifically, when people send out mixed signals and don’t commit to plans; being unreliable and effectively causing tension”.

If you are looking for a way of supporting the lads at Plastic Glass, drop them a message about the T-Shirts they have available or share the new track on social media and tag them!

Laurens Court

On Thursday we seen the amazing Newcastle band Laurens Court release their self-titled album! An amazing album, full of moving experimental music! Really refreshing to a lot of recent releases in music!

When we asked the band how they would explain the album to our readers they said the following: ''This self-titled album sees us really coming into our own, experimenting with an artistic, cinematic and dynamic sound that embraces our previous dark lyrics and melodic undertones, but with a much more polished and clear direction.''

We see a really bright future for this band and cannot wait to see it flourish!

If you are looking for a way of supporting the Laurens Court band, visit their website to look at the T-Shirts they have available or share the new album on social media and tag them!

Be sure to check on our B-Side Blog every week as we right up about what music we are listening too whilst staying inside!
